The Beginning

Hello all, fellow new MAPPers.

How are you all feeling about starting the course?
I am excited and nervous!

I had a chat the other day with a friend who works as a business consultant / 'Life' consultant.  Prior to our chat, I had spent time analysing my CV and reflecting on my career to date in order to identify Areas of learning.  Talking through it with someone else was extremely helpful as she asked a lot of questions which challenged me to get to the root of 'why' I do what I do.  It was hard to really question why I do what I do everyday but it gave me a central point from which my AoL's fed from.

I am sure things will change and develop as I start next week but thought I'd share my first experience and ask how you are all getting on?

How will you / have you identified AoL's?
Is it a new experience or something you do within your role already?

I'm really looking forward to finding out more about what you do and sharing this learning experience with you...

Here we go!

Imogen

  1. Hi Imogen, I'm also trying to get together some ideas for AOLs. I have several areas of work which I thought I would use as a basis and then perhaps hone in on particular aspects which have challenged me and reflect on these as to how my learning took place and continues to do so. Really not sure if I'm on the right wave length though and unsure as to whether I can just write them up. Referencing the course handbook I believe the AOLS have to have sub headings. My main job is teaching ballet but I also have a coordinator role, lecture and a variety of other things. I look forward to hearing from you. Ruth

  2. Hi Imogen. It is a great idea to take a 'life coach' kind of view of what you do to inform the AOL process. The AOL are about looking at themes that appear across your life and life coaches seem to be interested in this too. Once you have a list to choose from - from ones that make sense to wild ideas. Contact your tutor (in this case me). and we can talk them through together.
Using your CV and the write a job description task (for the description of everything you do) is a useful process for this also.
